SapiVents Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is a ventilator?
A ventilator is a machine that assists a patient to take breaths when the patient cannot inhale and exhale air normally. It is typically used in hospital intensive care unit (ICU).
Why is ventilator critical in the COVID19 pandemic?
COVID-19 virus damages lung functionality and patients can develop acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The World Health Organization (WHO) has pointed out that one in six COVID-19 patients becomes seriously ill and will require breathing assistance. Ventilator performs an essential role to supply oxygen to a patient’s lungs and help him/her to exhale.
Why are we designing ventilators?
Wise Ally truly understands the pressing global need for ventilators as a life-saving solution to COVID-19 patients in critical cases. In hope to support public health and to avoid tragedies caused by the lack of ventilators, we have decided to design and manufacture our low-cost emergency ventilator to ease the current global shortage.
Why is our design reliable and trustworthy?
As an one-stop solution provider serving global markets, Wise Ally has the engineering experience and manufacturing expertise to design and develop medical and healthcare products in world class quality standard.
Who can benefit from emergency ventilator aside from
Our ventilator is meant to provide a short-term solution with basic ventilator function during critical situation in emergency rooms, temporary hospitals, refugee camps and old caring centers. It is not a direct replacement of conventional ventilators.
What is SapiVents?
SapiVents is an automated resuscitator that provides basic ventilator functions in emergency situations when no other options are available.
Is SapiVents meant to replace full-feature ventilators?
Not at all. SapiVents act as a short-term solution when no other conventional mechanical ventilators or options are available. The aim is to free up the sophisticated critical care ventilators for the most in need patients.
What level of control function can SapiVents perform?
SapiVents is equipped with pressure sensors and alarm systems that allow clinicians to monitor and adjust key respiratory and ventilation parameters including tidal volume, respiratory rate (BPMs), I/E ratio, airway limit pressure, and the positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP).
Who can operate SapiVents?
SapiVents should only be operated by clinicians or trained medical personnel who have the knowledge and experience with ventilators.
What is SapiVents’ FDA Approval status?
Wise Ally is an ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 approved manufacturer and is experienced in designing and manufacturing FDA Class II medical devices. We acutely understand that this requirement is essential for ensuring the product is vetted for product safety and effectiveness. The SapiVents had passed the CR503:2020 and CR504:2020 tests of the Association of the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). The SapiVents is expected to be authorized by EUA under FDA by May 2021.
In what ways are SapiVents differ from other emergency ventilators?
SapiVents is created under a charitable initiative (‘Breathe Freely’) by Wise Ally and we partner with private and corporate donors, together with the philanthropic sector, we aspire to make ventilators to be as affordable and as widely available as possible especially to the most in need countries during the pandemic.
